Making To-MORROW Brighter at The Prudential Center, Newark NJ

On February 15, 2012 Gimme That TM Global and Anthony Morrow Charities hosted “Making To-MORROW Brighter”; a mentorship day with Anthony Morrow. Making To-MORROW Brighter granted “A Make A Wish” dream for patient Diane Duan from Newark Beth Israel Children’s Hospital to spend a day with Anthony Morrow.
Thirteen-year old Diane Duan of Jersey City is an 8th grade student who loves the New Jersey Nets – they are her favorite team.  Diane understands basketball, perhaps more than other young people her age, because she too, plans to return to playing after treatment at Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The special experience included an all-access pass from pre-game shoot-around, center court photos, the high five tunnel line, to post game interviews.  The event was an amazing experience for Diane and her family. Gimme ThatTM CEO Mike Nattis said, “this brought Anthony and I tremendous joy to see the impact that we made on Diane’s life today.  We are so happy to have made her wish come true.” This is the first of a series of Making TO-MORROW Brighter events that Anthony Morrow Charities,Gimme ThatTM Global and NBICH will host.

Newark Beth Israel Children’s Hospital Visit

On Wednesday, December 7 2011, Gimme ThatTM Global CEO Mike Nattis and NJ Net Star Anthony Morrow visited with the children at Newark Beth Israel Children’s Hospital for A Brighter To-MORROW Holiday Giving Tree.

NJ Nets Star Anthony Morrow played “Santa” for the hospitalized children as he traveled bed to bed with a wagon full of toys, basketballs, gifts, electronics, t-shirts, puzzles, and video games. Morrow signed basketballs and t-shirts and took bedside pictures with the children and their families.  Morrow said, “I believe it is important to give back; this is just a small way for me to say thank you for what people have given to me.  This is a special time of year, I just wanted to share the spirit of the holiday with kids who could be hospitalized on Christmas Day or who are hospitalized during December.”  Anthony and Mike stopped by each room of the three floor pediatric medical center speaking with the children, parents and posing for pictures.  All 50 plus children received a gift and an autograph from the NJ Nets Star. The group experience and visit brought out the holiday spirit in all of us and the staff at Newark Beth Israel.  In an interview shortly after the visit, Gimme ThatTM Global CEO Mike Nattis said, “This event was tremendous; we helped lift the spirits of their children facing challenging health issues.  After seeing the smiles on their faces, we knew our day was a success. Today was a great day!”

A special thanks to Newark Beth Israel Hospital.

Hoopin’ For Hope Hoop-A-Thon Recap

On September 21, 2011 seventy-five student-athletes from the New York City and Northern New Jersey communities participated in Gimme ThatTM Global’s and Anthony Morrow Charities first annual “Hoopin’ For Hope Hoop-A-Thon.”  The event took place on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken N.J. The night was full of competition, guest speakers, free food, drinks and great prize giveaways.  WLPJ 95.5 rocked the arena with music and prizes providing an additional fun activity for all the hoop-a-thon participants.  O.N.E Coconut Water provided the nutritional refreshments.

The evening was started by a grand entrance by Gimme ThatTM CEO Mike Nattis and NJ Nets Star Anthony Morrow.  Morrow immediately addressed the crowd, thanking them for them for their attendance and support. He addressed the importance of his mission; to stress and spread the importance of education for young people in the community, and to strive for success on the hardwood and in the classroom.  The Nets Star then kicked off the Hoop-A-Thon by participating with several students in a series of shooting contests.  Everyone was a winner, walking away with awesome prizes from EFX, Chelsea Piers, Charles ST Paul Band, Rita’s Ices, and Ralphs Ices.  The night was summed up by a quote by Gimme That’s CEO Mike Nattis .  When asked, how do you gauge the success of this kind of event?  Nattis answered, “ Smiles; each and every person who came through those gym doors ,whether they participated, watched or listened was touched by Anthony’s lecture, and our mission to further education and the resources needed to do so.”  He added, “Tonight was an awesome night.”  The night concluded with more prize giveaways, and for all who  attended a night to remember.
